Credit Versio Reviews: What Credit Versio Costs With SmartCredit and Postage, and When a Credit Versio Alternative Makes More Sense
Credit Versio is do-it-yourself credit repair software: it imports your three-bureau report, flags negative accounts, writes dispute letters and tracks the results, and you mail the letters yourself. The software costs nothing. The SmartCredit plan it runs on costs $27.95 or $29.95 a month, and certified mail adds $6.37 per letter, so a realistic four-month round with three dispute cycles comes to about $169. That is a fair price if your report has genuine errors. If the negative marks are accurate, no letter removes them, and the money is better spent on the factors you can actually move.

Credit Versio figures were read off creditversio.com/pricing on 16 September 2026, and SmartCredit direct prices off the SmartCredit pricing page the same day. Postage comes from USPS Price List Notice 123, effective 12 July 2026. Dispute Beast and Dovly figures come from their own pricing pages in early September 2026 and Sky Blue from its own site on 10 September. Prices in this category move, so check the vendor site before you pay. Creditpal is not affiliated with any company in this table and earns nothing if you choose one.
How much does Credit Versio cost?
Credit Versio charges nothing for its software. Its pricing page says it plainly: "The most powerful credit repair software ever created, is free. Only pay for a 3 credit bureau subscription and postage for your dispute letters." The subscription is SmartCredit, and Credit Versio links to two plans with no contract and a 7-day trial for $1.
SmartCredit Basic through Credit Versio is $27.95 a month and SmartCredit Premium is $29.95 a month. Both include unlimited Credit Versio disputes, monthly three-bureau reports and scores, $1 million identity theft insurance and credit monitoring alerts. The only listed difference is inside SmartCredit itself: Basic gives you two single-bureau report and score updates a month, Premium makes them unlimited. For dispute work that difference is close to irrelevant, because Credit Versio tracks results off the monthly three-bureau pull. A third plan at $29.99 with real-time three-bureau monitoring is listed on the same page but marked temporarily unavailable.
Credit repair is bought in rounds, not months. A bureau gets 30 days to investigate a dispute and five more to tell you the result, so each cycle runs 30 to 45 days and most people who get anything removed need two to four rounds. Here is what that commits you to.
| Plan | Monthly | 4 months | 6 months | 12 months | 6 months with 4 certified rounds |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SmartCredit Basic | $27.95 | $111.80 | $167.70 | $335.40 | $244.14 |
| SmartCredit Premium | $29.95 | $119.80 | $179.70 | $359.40 | $256.14 |
| Creditpal | $7 | $28 | $42 | $84 | $42, nothing to mail |
That makes Credit Versio one of the cheaper ways to run disputes on all three bureaus. Dispute Beast starts at $49.99 a month, so four months is $199.96 before anything is mailed, and a full-service firm like Sky Blue Credit at $79 to $119 a month is roughly three times the price for the same legal process with a person doing the reading. Our roundup of the best credit repair software puts every consumer tool side by side.
Why the SmartCredit plan you need is cheaper through Credit Versio
This is the detail that trips people up, and no review we found mentions it. SmartCredit sold directly on its own site is a different bundle from the SmartCredit plans Credit Versio links to.
On SmartCredit's own pricing page, Premium is $29.95 a month with one three-bureau report a month. Basic is $24.95 a month, but the three-bureau report and scores are a $29.95 add-on, Smart Credit Report updates are capped at two a month, and Actions are capped at five. Credit Versio needs a monthly three-bureau report to work, so buying Basic direct and adding the report comes to $54.90 a month, nearly double the $27.95 Basic plan offered through Credit Versio, which already includes monthly three-bureau reports.
The practical rule: if you are buying SmartCredit to use Credit Versio, sign up through Credit Versio's pricing page rather than going to SmartCredit first. If you already hold a SmartCredit account, Credit Versio says you can connect it, but check which plan you are on before you start disputing. You can read the rest of what the subscription gets you in our SmartCredit review with every plan priced.
What does postage add to Credit Versio?
More than the pricing page implies, if you mail the way disputes should be mailed. Credit Versio recommends letters over online disputes, stating that "Letters are far more effective at getting accounts permanently deleted than online disputes," and a letter you cannot prove you sent is a weak foundation for a 30-day legal deadline.
At USPS prices effective 12 July 2026, a one-ounce First-Class letter is $0.82 and the Certified Mail fee is $5.55, so each certified letter is $6.37. One round to all three bureaus is $19.11. Add an electronic return receipt at $2.91 and it becomes $9.28 a letter, or $27.84 a round. A letter with a copy of your ID and a utility bill enclosed can tip over one ounce, which moves the postage to $1.11.
Across a typical engagement, three rounds of certified mail adds $57.33 and four rounds adds $76.44. That is still inexpensive next to a repair firm. It is simply not free, and it is the part of the bill that grows with every item you decide to dispute again.
Is Credit Versio legit?
Yes. Credit Versio LLC is a real software company, it lists a support line and email, its site cites two issued U.S. patents (11,810,188 and 12,033,211), and its pricing is published openly. It is also a different legal animal from a credit repair company: you generate the letters and you send them, so it does not take money to perform disputes on your behalf.
Two things on its own pages deserve a careful read. First, its pricing page still compares Credit Versio against Lexington Law at "$89 - $129 per month" and creditrepair.com at "$99 per month." Both of those firms stopped operating after a federal court entered a $2.7 billion judgment against them in 2023 for illegally charging upfront fees and deceptive advertising. The comparison is out of date, which tells you nothing bad about the software but does tell you how recently that page was reviewed. Our page on what happened to Lexington Law covers the fallout.
Second, the homepage says that "Because you send them yourself, the credit bureaus won't reject them." That overstates the law. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act at 15 U.S.C. 1681i(a)(3), a bureau "may terminate a reinvestigation" if it "reasonably determines that the dispute by the consumer is frivolous or irrelevant," and it must tell you within five business days. Who sends the letter does not change that test. A template letter about an accurate account can be dismissed whether it arrives from you or from a firm.
Which credit score does Credit Versio show you?
VantageScore 3.0, not a FICO score. The scores come from SmartCredit, and SmartCredit's own FAQ answers the question directly: "Are these my FICO credit scores? Your credit score is the Vantage 3.0 Credit Score jointly created by Experian, TransUnion and Equifax." The same FAQ states that the day-to-day Smart Credit Report is derived from TransUnion, with the three-bureau report pulled separately.
That matters most if a mortgage is the reason you are repairing your credit. At most closings, mortgage lenders still qualify borrowers on the classic FICO Score 2, 4 and 5, one from each bureau, and take the middle of the three. VantageScore and FICO versions built on the same file commonly land 20 to 50 points apart in either direction. So the score climbing inside Credit Versio is a real signal that deletions are working, but it is not the number the loan officer will read. Our page on the credit score you need to buy a house covers which versions get pulled at closing.
What Credit Versio can and cannot remove
Credit Versio lists the account types it can help you dispute: late payments, repossessions, charge-offs, foreclosures, collections, judgments, inquiries and bankruptcy. It can help you dispute any of them. What decides whether anything is deleted is whether the item is inaccurate or can no longer be verified, and that line does not move for software or for money.
Worth disputing, and a good fit for a tool that organizes letters across three bureaus: accounts that are not yours, a collection reported by two agencies, a balance or limit reported wrong, a late payment on a month you paid on time, and a wrong date of first delinquency, which is the most valuable error of all because it controls when the whole item ages off. Judgments are a special case, since civil judgments are no longer included on credit reports at all, so one showing up is an error by definition.
Not removable by Credit Versio or anyone else: an accurate late payment, an accurate collection or charge-off, a bankruptcy you really filed, and inquiries from applications you really made. Those report for fixed periods, generally seven years and ten for a Chapter 7. Before you start a $1 trial, pull all three reports at annualcreditreport.com, free every week, mark every negative item accurate or inaccurate, and count. Our guide to disputing credit report errors walks through the filing itself.
When Credit Versio is the wrong purchase
If you count and the number of genuine errors is zero, Credit Versio has nothing to do for you, and neither does Dovly, Dispute Beast or any credit repair company. That is the most common situation, not the rare one. Most damaged files are damaged by things that happened: a card run up to 80 percent of its limit, a stretch of late payments, a collection that really is yours.
In that case the score moves through utilization, payment history going forward, account age and credit mix. Utilization alone is roughly 30 percent of a FICO score and recalculates every billing cycle, so paying a card down before the statement closing date is the fastest legitimate lever there is, and it usually shows in 30 to 45 days. No dispute letter does that.
That is the gap Creditpal fills, for $7 a month with nothing to mail. It reads your file read-only, shows which factors are actually costing you points, lets you simulate a change before you make it, and orders the steps by impact. It is educational guidance, it files no disputes, and it makes no promise about a score or a timeframe. To see what each lever is worth on your own file, start with the credit score simulator, and fixing bad credit without a repair firm lays out the sequence. If you do have a few real errors, use a dispute tool for those and a coach for everything else.

Questions people ask before they buy
How much does Credit Versio cost?
Credit Versio software is free. You pay for the SmartCredit three-bureau plan it runs on: Basic at $27.95 a month or Premium at $29.95, each with a 7-day trial for $1, read off Credit Versio's pricing page in September 2026. Add certified postage at $6.37 a letter. Four months on Basic with three rounds of certified letters to all three bureaus is about $169.
Is Credit Versio really free?
The software is, the product is not. Credit Versio does not work without a SmartCredit subscription, which costs $27.95 or $29.95 a month when you sign up through Credit Versio, and you pay postage on every letter. Credit Versio says this openly on its pricing page. Roundups that list it as free credit repair software are leaving out the part you actually pay for.
Is Credit Versio legit?
Yes. Credit Versio LLC publishes its pricing, lists a support phone line and email, and cites two issued U.S. patents on its software. Because you generate and mail the letters yourself, it is software rather than a credit repair company. Read its claims carefully: bureaus can still dismiss a dispute they reasonably judge frivolous, whoever sends it.
Does Credit Versio show FICO scores?
No. The scores come from SmartCredit, whose own FAQ states that your score is the VantageScore 3.0 model created by Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. Mortgage lenders mostly use FICO Score 2, 4 and 5, and VantageScore and FICO scores on the same file commonly differ by 20 to 50 points, so treat the number as a progress signal.
Does Credit Versio hurt your credit score?
No. Credit Versio states that it imports your three-bureau report without creating a hard inquiry, and SmartCredit describes its report pulls as consumer inquiries that do not harm your score. Disputing an item does not lower your score either. What can lower it is closing accounts or letting balances rise while you focus on disputes.
How long does Credit Versio take to work?
Plan on two to four months. Each bureau has 30 days to investigate a dispute and five more days to report the result, a clock set by the Fair Credit Reporting Act that is identical for software, a repair firm or a letter you write yourself. Credit Versio pulls a new three-bureau report monthly and shows what was deleted.
Can I cancel Credit Versio anytime?
Yes. Credit Versio lists its SmartCredit plans as no contract, cancel anytime. SmartCredit's FAQ states you can cancel during the trial without further cost and cancel your membership at any time, with charges stopping immediately. Cancel before the 7-day trial ends if you only wanted to read your reports.
What is a good Credit Versio alternative?
It depends on your report. For errors on TransUnion only, Dovly AI has a free tier. For software that also mails letters, Dispute Beast starts at $49.99 a month. For someone to do the work, Sky Blue Credit runs $79 to $119 a month with no setup fee. If your negative marks are accurate, Creditpal at $7 a month is the better spend.
