LifeLock costs $124.99 a year for Core, $199.99 for Advanced and $349.99 for Total for one adult when billed annually, or $12.49, $19.99 and $34.99 a month billed monthly. Norton's own renewal price list, effective March 2026, shows the standalone annual plans renew at those same prices. Only Advanced and Total watch all three credit bureaus.
We read LifeLock's plan page, its subscription footnotes and Norton's published Subscription Renewal Price List in October 2026, so the figures below are LifeLock's own. CreditPal is a credit coaching tool, not an identity theft service, and earns nothing whether you buy LifeLock or not.
How much does LifeLock cost?
| Plan | Billed annually | Billed monthly | Renews at (annual) | Credit monitoring | Credit report and score |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Core, 1 adult | $124.99 ($10.42 a month) | $12.49 a month | $124.99 | 2 bureaus | 1 bureau monthly, 3 bureaus once a year |
| Advanced, 1 adult | $199.99 ($16.67 a month) | $19.99 a month | $199.99 | 3 bureaus | 1 bureau monthly, 3 bureaus once a year |
| Total, 1 adult | $349.99 ($29.17 a month) | $34.99 a month | $349.99 | 3 bureaus | 1 bureau daily, 3 bureaus once a year |
| Core, 2 adults | $224.99 a year on Norton's list | $224.99 | 2 bureaus each | Per adult | |
| Advanced, 2 adults | $359.99 a year | $359.99 | 3 bureaus each | Per adult | |
| Advanced, 2 adults and up to 10 kids | $479.99 a year | $479.99 | 3 bureaus for each adult | Per adult | |
| Total, 2 adults and up to 10 kids | $749.99 a year on Norton's list | $749.99 | 3 bureaus for each adult | Per adult | |
Two things in that table matter more than the headline. Paying monthly costs about 20% more than paying for the year: Core is $149.88 a year on monthly billing against $124.99 up front. And the cheapest plan, Core, monitors two bureaus, not three. Its credit report and score are one bureau a month, with a three-bureau report once a year.
Does LifeLock go up after the first year?
For the standalone plans, Norton's own list says no. The Subscription Renewal Price List on norton.com, marked "Effective March 2026," prices LifeLock Core for one adult at $124.99, Advanced at $199.99 and Total at $349.99, the same figures the plan page charges today. Many reviews, including Aura's guide to LifeLock pricing, say LifeLock renews at 30% to 50% more. On the current LifeLock-only plans, Norton's published renewal prices do not show that.
Where the step-up is real is the Norton 360 bundles. The plan page sells Norton 360 with LifeLock Select at $99.99 "for the 1st yr," with "Renews at $159.99/yr" printed under it, and Ultimate Plus at $299.99, renewing at $364.99. If you buy LifeLock as part of antivirus, budget for the second-year price.
Two billing details from LifeLock's subscription terms are worth knowing. "Annual plans billed up to 35 days prior to expiration," so the renewal charge can land a month before the term ends. And "Prices are subject to change," so check the renewal notice email rather than assuming last year's price. The footnote also says discounts "apply to promotional period only and are compared against monthly pricing," which is where the 16% off on the plan page comes from.
Is LifeLock worth it?
It depends on which problem you are paying to solve. LifeLock is worth it for people who want someone else to watch their accounts, run the paperwork if their identity is stolen, and reimburse stolen funds. It is not worth it if what you actually want is a higher credit score, because nothing in any LifeLock plan raises one.
What you get for the money is real. Every plan includes identity restoration specialists, dark web monitoring, a credit and payday loan lock, and up to $1 million in coverage for lawyers and experts. Advanced adds three-bureau monitoring, five monitored financial accounts and up to $100,000 for stolen funds. Total adds 401(k) and investment alerts, daily one-bureau scores and up to $1 million for stolen funds. The newer plans also run an automatic data broker removal that, per the footnote, "submits removal requests every 90 days."
What you can do for free is also real. A credit freeze at all three bureaus costs nothing and blocks new accounts more completely than any alert, which is why most consumer advocates start there; our guide to freezing your credit walks through it. Federal law already caps your liability on fraudulent credit card charges at $50, and most card issuers waive even that. Weekly credit reports from all three bureaus are free at AnnualCreditReport.com.
So the honest test is time and exposure. If you have several bank, brokerage and retirement accounts, a home in your name, or you have already been a fraud victim, a plan that watches all of it and pays a specialist to clean up a theft is a reasonable $200 to $350 a year. If you have one checking account and two cards, a freeze and your bank's own alerts cover most of it.
LifeLock reviews and the fine print most of them skip
LifeLock's plan page shows a 4.9 rating and tens of thousands of reviews. Read the footnotes under it before you choose a plan, because five of them change what you are buying.
- Core watches two bureaus. The plan grid lists "Credit Monitoring: 2 Bureau" for Core and "3 Bureau" for Advanced and Total. If your goal is three-bureau monitoring, Core is the plan to skip.
- The money-back guarantee is annual only. "All annual plans include 60-day money back guarantee." Monthly plans do not get it.
- Scam reimbursement excludes New York. Scam protection is "available to most U.S. customers ... except residents of New York."
- The lock switches off on downgrade. Identity Lock "is disabled if your subscription is downgraded or cancelled."
- The restoration guarantee is a refund of the current term. If you are a victim and "not satisfied with our resolution, you may receive a refund for the current term of your subscription," and it requires an automatically renewing subscription.
One more line applies to every credit feature: they "require setup completion, identity verification, and a sufficient credit history with the applicable credit bureau." A very thin file may not get monitoring on every bureau you paid for.
LifeLock cost compared with Aura, Identity Guard and IdentityForce
| Service | Cheapest 3-bureau plan, 1 adult | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| LifeLock Advanced | $199.99 a year, or $19.99 a month | Identity theft protection with insurance and restoration |
| Aura Individual | $12 a month billed annually ($144), $15 monthly | Identity theft protection with insurance and restoration |
| Identity Guard Total | $19.99 a month (Value at $8.99 has no credit monitoring) | Identity theft protection; annual discount applies to year one only |
| IdentityForce UltraSecure+Credit | $34.90 a month | Identity monitoring with a quarterly 3-bureau report |
| Credit freeze plus bank alerts | $0 | Blocks new credit; no insurance or restoration help |
| CreditPal | From $7 a month | Not identity protection. Reads your file, explains what is holding the score down, simulates a move first |
Our Aura vs LifeLock comparison goes plan by plan, the Identity Guard pricing review covers its year-two price, and the best credit monitoring services page prices the bureau-run options. LifeLock's 90-day broker removal is a sweep, not a guarantee; if people finder listings are your main worry, a dedicated data removal service works that problem full time.
Is LifeLock worth it for seniors?
Often, yes, and this is where LifeLock earns its price. Older adults are targeted more by scams, are more likely to hold retirement and investment accounts, and benefit most from a phone line to a restoration specialist. Advanced or Total make sense here, because Core skips investment alerts and watches only two bureaus. Pay annually for the 60-day refund window, and note that scam reimbursement does not cover New York residents.
What LifeLock cannot do for your credit score
LifeLock tells you when something changes on your credit file. It does not tell you why your score is where it is, and it does not help you raise it. Most people who buy monitoring before a mortgage or car loan really want the second thing.
That is what CreditPal does. It connects read-only, explains in plain English which factors are costing you the most points on each bureau, and lets you simulate paying down a balance or opening an account before you do it. From $7 a month, which is less than half of LifeLock Advanced. CreditPal does not insure losses, restore identities, file disputes or lend money, so if theft is your real worry, buy the protection and use CreditPal for the score.

Is LifeLock legit?
Yes. LifeLock is owned by Gen Digital, the company behind Norton, and its insurance benefits are issued by third-party insurers. It did pay $100 million in 2015 to settle Federal Trade Commission charges over advertising and data security, which is worth knowing when you read its marketing claims.
Can I cancel LifeLock anytime?
Yes. The plan page says "Cancel anytime," and its terms point to an online cancellation link or Member Services. Annual plans cancelled within 60 days get a full refund; after that, check the cancellation and refund policy for your plan.
